About this site
This site is something which I have been fantasizing about for some time and you will need to forgive me if it has some rough edges to it as it is a work in progress being somewhat new to the process.
Bio
As the author of the site, a little introduction may be helpful. I have seen many things, experienced a lot and learned more than I probably can recall in my nearly 82 years. I am a midwesterner at heart, the son of German and Scandinavian immigrant families growing up on Minnesota farms during the 1940's and 1950's. I attended country schools for my elementary education and high school in a small city in Southern Minnesota. Attended college at a Minnesota state university studying the Sciences and Mathematics, entering the business world in the late 1960's during the height of the Vietnam War. Spent my entire career in the scientific field initially in Ohio but migrated to the West Coast almost 32 years ago to finish my career and have been retired for more than 20 years.
During my career I was involved with various forms of technology covering a combination of physical, chemical and mathematical disciplines. As part of my work experience I traveled extensively throughout many states of our vast country, except for Alaska and Alabama as well as multiple providences of Canada. My roles included product development, support of marketing efforts and also in a technical support capacity. I have engaged with corporations and individuals from New England, the southeast, Florida, the hills of Tennessee and Kentucky, midwest, desert southwest, California and the Pacific Northwest. Have encountered their dialects and they mine, their way of doing business and demonstrating to them new technology including its features and benefits to help them gain new insights and market advantages along with in an environmentally acceptable manner which we in the industry call Responsible Care.
During my younger and midlife years was an avid bowler and golfer, not top level but with sufficient expertise to enjoy the sports over a period of more than 25 years. Upon retirement these were difficult to maintain due to onsetting health issues specifically arthritis in hands, feet and shoulders. However, this did not preclude continuing a keen interest in photography, specifically Digital Photography. For a number of years I lived on the Oregon Coast which offered many opportunities for Landscape Photography which is my specialty and the source of many photographs shown on a separate page of this website. Other current hobbies include maintaining a welcoming yard with its many plants, flowers and shrubbery. Have been married for about 30 years with several grandchildren located in many parts of the country.
Throughout all my lifetime there have been many times work or life experiences, their corresponding events and personal endeavors were filed away in the far reaches of my mind. At times they would surface triggered by any number of factors and creating a desire for me to share them or at least bits and pieces of them for a specific purpose which I may have felt was of some importance. Not because no one else knew or experienced what I had, but rather for some readers to view my experiences, opinion or at least view something anew. Some may be technical, something new (at least to me), occasionally something bordering on political but tend to shy away from that and in some cases societal issues which I feel should be shared.
Good reading and I ask for comments as you desire.
